Why aren’t Emmerdale and Coronation Street on tonight?
ITV’s programming for this evening has been adjusted due to, you guessed it, football.
France vs. Austria will be the contest that airs tonight as the Euros continue.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale won’t be able to run in time since the coverage starts at 7:15 and concludes at roughly 10:30p.m.
Sports fans are frequently complaining about soap operas being relocated for games.
Social media is often used by Corrie and Emmerdale viewers to vent their annoyance at the changes. Many of them argue that sports or the soap operas should run on a different ITV channel to make place for the other.
One X user said online, “Great no corrie thank to bloody football ⚬,” while another commented, “These others.” Since the ITV channel mostly consists of reruns, it makes logical to air normal programming when the football games are playing. Not everyone enjoys playing football. Since the BBC has shifted its programming to BBC 2, why can’t ITV follow suit?
