Following Rishi’s (Bhasker Patel) unexpected passing last week, Emmerdale has said goodbye to another Sharma family member with the departure of his ex-wife Georgia (Lin Blakeley).
As fans are aware, Georgia showed up last week in anticipation of Jai’s (Chris Bisson) marriage to Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), but she immediately became involved in a family spat about her son’s real origins.
When Jai discovered that Rishi wasn’t his real father, he sought explanations from his mother Georgia. Rishi eventually admitted that Jai’s father is his younger brother Amit.
Even though Jai struggled to digest the information, he finally decided to allow Rishi to attend his wedding despite their hostility.
But Rishi didn’t show up. Subsequent scenes revealed that he had sadly passed away on the way to the ceremony, and Jai had found his corpse at Holdgate’s lowest step.
The ITV soap opera’s Monday, July 31 episode began the next day with emotions high at Mulberry as Jai lashed out at both his son Archie Breckle (Kai Assi) and Suni Breckle (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), whom he blamed for Rishi’s demise.
Georgia, meanwhile, started crying and told Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) that she didn’t know how to assist and that she felt like she was tripping over everyone.
As a consequence, the matriarch made the decision to go to London in order to assist her daughter Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade), who has been having trouble ever since learning of her father’s passing.
Georgia then bid her loved ones farewell before boarding a cab and driving away from the area.
Jai made amends with Suni and Archie after his mother’s departure, and the three of them later gathered candles around a photo of their beloved Rishi to honor the family head in a meaningful way.
