Since Thursday’s Emmerdale installments have become a weekly ritual for ITV viewers, fans of the soap opera will have to wait until the Euros 2024 to receive their next dose.

Fans of Emmerdale and EastEnders will once again be most impacted by this Thursday’s Euros 2024 schedule.

The London-based drama has been maintained on the air by the soap opera executives, but they have opted to switch the BBC One programme to BBC Two due to the nationwide football craze.

Sadly, Emmerdale executives have given way to live Euro 2024 coverage on ITV as Spain gets ready to play Italy, the reigning champions, coming Thursday, June 20, at 8 p.m.

Consequently, viewers will be deprived of their weekly hour-long installment of the popular show, which typically airs on ITV at 7:30 p.m.

ITV fans at home can tune in to the broadcaster’s Evening News starting at 6.30pm before keeping up with all the Euros 2024 updates from 7.15pm until 10.30pm, while EastEnders will run on BBC Two during its regular 7.30pm slot.

This Friday, June 21, both soap operas Emmerdale and Coronation Street will return to their customary 7.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. timeslots.

Fans of soap operas have taken to Twitter, or X, to vent their anger about scheduling changes. ITV has been the subject of much of the complaints, since Emmerdale and Corrie have been cancelled on a regular basis.

In order to alleviate fan anticipation, executives have ensured that Emmerdale episodes may be seen on ITVX the day before they run at 7am, and that new episodes of EastEnders are posted to BBC iPlayer every day at 6am.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Emmerdale fans were given an hour-long show, but this was insufficient to satisfy them as social media was inundated with complaints.

“Why oh why does football have to be on ITV there are sports channels to watch on , most people have sports channels if not all the pubs show it on the big screen, how would they like it if they put coronation street on a sports channel’s and said sorry we are not showing you the live match we are watching the soaps instead” , notably wrote one of them.

The Euros 2024 timetable has not just affected soap operas; Loose Women was removed from ITV’s daily schedule on Wednesday and this Thursday, confusing fans.

In addition, Jay Blades’ Repair Shop on the Beeb was cancelled from its normal time slot, and since the presenter announced that she would be taking a sabbatical from the show, viewers have become more worried about the show’s future.

Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long for the makeover programme to return since Tuesday, June 25th, is when the 13th season will resume.
