Turning his focus back to Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) world keeps collapsing in Emmerdale, and he targets her on the day of Rishi’s death.
Last year, Rishi died abruptly after tumbling down the stairs. We were originally told he perished from a terrible accident, but then Amit, his brother, showed up.
Amit ultimately came clean about pushing Rishi down the stairs during a financial and business conflict. Jai exacted retribution when he learned the truth—that his birth father was really a dishonest businessman.
After holding Amit captive at Holdgate, Jai urged him to depart the hamlet for India without bidding anybody farewell. Laurel discovered this secret a few weeks ago and, after extreme stress, she subsequently had a heart attack.
Jai has been repeatedly informed by Laurel that after his terrible behavior they will not be getting back together. She is annoyed next week, however; why can’t he get the message?
Jai corners Laurel when she catches up with Nicola Wheeler. He becomes enraged at her for bringing up solicitors on the day of dad’s death and their wedding anniversary during their conversation.
Lauren becomes annoyed at work when Jai slithers in and begins causing problems.
Things stay uncomfortable at work between Jai and Laurel the next day. He keeps demeaning her, which makes Laurel and the other staff uncomfortable.
Jai rapidly sees his marriage problems are becoming village news as he shares his ideas on Laurel obviously intending to rinse him in the divorce.
