Emmerdale tragedy as Matty says goodbye in new video

In Emmerdale, Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) is still concerned about Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano).

The adored face inadvertently stabbed Samson Dingle (Sam Hall), and is now incarcerated.

We know Matty certainly didn’t want to hurt Samson, but a nasty adolescent named Josh has persuaded Samson into lying in his statement, so it appears as if Matty is a guilty guy after all.

Matty’s life in prison is terrifying because of his gender identity. He is aware that finding out who he is will make him a target and raise the possibility that he may be in much greater danger than he already is.

Matty is now resorting to drastic means in an attempt to protect himself. He recently advised Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) and Amy not to use the term “transgender” in conversation for fear that someone could overhear them.

In this new video, Matty bids Amy a happy birthday over the phone.

While speaking with Amy, he makes an effort to seem upbeat but neglects to let her know that another prisoner is pressuring him to end the call.

Two burly guys who won’t get out of the way approach Matty as he hangs up. Luckily, they relocate while he waits, allowing Matty to go back to his cell.

Matty encouraged Amy not to worry about him during their phone conversation, but is it because he knows something unsettling is coming?

According to Natalie J. Robb, “Moira is quite desperate and terrified because she knows this is not something Matty would ever do—it’s not in his nature.”

“She feels like everyone is kind of taking Samson’s side in the situation, which is frustrating her more and more. Obviously, that causes her to lose more and more of the plot as she tries to come up with ideas for how she can help Matty and get him out of the situation as soon as possible.”
