Liam humiliates Ella as he demands truth over her ‘baby lie’ in Emmerdale

Discovering that his previous lover Ella Forster (Paula Lane) is carrying his baby causes great shock for Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) in forthcoming Emmerdale episodes. And he responds poorly to the news.

Of course, the discovery that Ella was a child murderer complicates matters because Liam and Ella broke up and she fled the area. For Liam, it made little difference that Ella murdered her closest friend was just a kid herself.

Hearing Ella’s account that she had grown up in very impoverished conditions and that this girl’s mother had been the first adult who had showed Ella any affection or care piqued his intrigue.

Ella knew she would no longer be accepted in this lovely family when the girl declared they would not be friends any more. She beat her buddy to death in a fury of loss.

After Ella left, Liam had attempted to move on (Image: ITV).

For Liam, a father who had lost his own daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger) to serial murderer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu), the knowledge that Ella had taken someone’s life meant he could not be near her at all.

She has returned to the hamlet, lodging at the salon and working at the veterinarian’s; she has not informed Liam about the pregnancy nevertheless.

This all changes in next episodes when she gets sick on the street and Liam is on hand to help. She tells him the reason for her unusual turn—that she is pregnant—shocks him. And the baby belongs to him.

He tells Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) at the Woolpack the news, and she is equally surprised as Liam and her had been making cautious moves toward reconciliation.

When Ella visits him to discuss the truth that someone he believes to be a child murderer may also be the mother of his kid, Liam shuts the door.

He does talk to her eventually, but Ella is very embarrassed when he orders her to undergo a pregnancy test as he does not trust a word she says.

Is her truthfulness evident?
