It is said that months after leaving the ITV serial opera Emmerdale, Matthew Wolfenden, the former star of the show, may soon make a comeback to our screens.

After portraying David Metcalfe for an incredible 16 years, Matthew departed the role in November of last year.

When the character learned that his son Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) had begun seeing his former Victoria (Isabel Hodgins), he left the hamlet for a new life in London.

David packed up and departed, eager to reconnect with his daughter Amba and her mother Priya (Fiona Wade), as he was unable to see them together.

Matthew appeared in the Elf the Musical performance over the Christmas season.

He will now be on our screens once more in the next season of Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip.

A number of well-known figures collaborate to discover antiques and profit more from used goods at auction than they did from their purchase in the BBC Two programme.

“Matthew has signed up for the show – he thinks it’ll be a laugh and fun to be on TV as himself not his soap character,” a source told The Sun.

The BBC has been approached by Metro.co.uk for a statement.

Although there isn’t much information available about the new season of the famous programme, we do know that Max Bowden and Danielle Harold, two former EastEnders actors, will be appearing. They were recently spotted in a tiny Gloucestershire town with host Ishy Khan.

As Ben Mitchell and Lola Pearce, respectively, Max and Danielle collaborated closely on the soap opera since their characters had a daughter named Lexi.

Ben, who last year committed fraud in the US, is incarcerated. Ben is married to Tony Clay’s character, Callum Highway.

Danielle, meantime, quit the show a year ago after learning that her character had terminal cancer.
