Following his unexpected departure from ITV’s Emmerdale, which was announced last year after 17 years on the soap opera, Matthew Wolfenden is rumoured to have signed up for a new TV programme.

According to reports, a veteran and fan favourite from Emmerdale has committed to his first new TV job since departing the soap opera following an illustrious tenure on the popular programme.

After leaving the famous soap opera ITV abruptly last year after a 17-year run, Matthew Wolfenden, who is best known for playing David Metcalfe, has apparently landed a role on a new programme. “It feels like the right time,” he said to fans on This Morning, confirming his departure from Emmerdale, where he made his television debut in 2006. The door is ajar. They’ve assured me that they won’t murder me. That’s okay, I can tell you that. So who knows? Maybe I’ll return; we’ll see.”

Following Emmerdale, Matthew and his former co-star Roxy Shahidi jumped headfirst into podcasting with Celebrity Side Hustles. However, his many supporters may soon get their wish to see him return on television. Co-star Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle, and Matthew were married in 2018. Together, they are joyful parents of three sons.
