Fans have been questioning Sally Ann Matthews, star of Coronation Street, after noticing Jenny Connor hasn’t been on television much lately. Fans of the ITV soap opera are aware that Sally began her career as Jenny when she was only sixteen years old.

Born in Oldham In 1986, Sally Ann was chosen to play Jenny Bradley, a villain Alan Bradley’s daughter raised by Rita Tanner, later known as Rita Fairclough, while her father was at work.

Sally left the programme after five years to pursue other opportunities. Before making a significant comeback in 2015 when Jenny began dating Kevin Webster, she had a minor reappearance in 1993.

But after losing her four-year-old son Tom to drowning in a paddling pool two years before, she grabbed Kevin’s baby Jack to protect him and almost hurled herself from a balcony, which led to her being sectioned.

After Rita showed compassion for her in 2016, she never set foot on the streets again. She immediately started working at Underworld and got to know Johnny Connor, the manager of the plant. The next year, the two were married, and in 2018, they jointly purchased the Rovers. The rest is history, as they say, since Jenny’s infidelity caused her marriage to fail before Johnny untimely passed away in a sinkhole accident in 2021.

More recently, Jenny had to fight to rescue the cherished Rovers Return, but Carla Connor soon discovered that she and Daisy Midgeley were using devious means to reenter the pub. They had been using the money that serial murderer Stephen Reid had taken from her and Underworld.

But, it appears that fans have noticed that Jenny hasn’t been showing up in the boozer much lately, as Sally Ann acknowledged when she participated in an Instagram Live on Thursday, June 20, that she isn’t really gone because the soap opera is still filming weeks before it airs.

“We haven’t seen much of Jenny for a while,” she said when asked a follow-up question, according to Metro.co.uk. “No, you’re not going to be seeing Jenny for quite a long while, so that’s that!”

“Well, you’ll see Jenny again, but it won’t be for a while,” she said. Alright, it seems like now would be the ideal moment to go; I believe I could have done rather well on the live stage.”

Sally Ann mentioned her vacation intentions, so it seems that she is just taking advantage of her vacation. “We’re quite fortunate to be able to go on the boat and take it up river on Saturday. I plan to spend my time relaxing on the yacht and doing nothing at all. After that, I’ll return to Cyprus and continue doing nothing.”

Since they are her “husband’s favourite,” Sally Ann recently revealed who she would play on the cobbles if she weren’t playing Jenny. When Sally Ann was asked in an earlier Instagram Q&A, “If you could play any character in Corrie apart from yourself, who would you play?” she responded, “Tracy Barlow because she’s my husband’s favourite,” with a photo of herself and her husband Nick with their border terrier, Veto.
