Emmerdale spoilers: Mack is relieved to survive after a big mistake – but not for long

In Emmerdale, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) bounces about from woman to woman like a human shuttlecock because he can’t decide whether he wants to be with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) or Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland).

There appeared to be no turning back for the pair when Charity’s life fell apart upon learning that Mackenzie, whom she had just married, was the father of Chloe Harris’s child, Reuben.

Mack promised Chloe his future because he wanted to have a family for Reuben, and she was thrilled that he was committing to her and her kid.

That dedication didn’t last very long since, as we saw last week, Mackenzie was powerless against Charity’s allure. After Mack visited Charity to talk about Reuben’s baptism, the two slept together, giving Charity hope that a reconciliation was imminent.

Apparently reinforcing his commitment to leave Charity behind him, Mackenzie informed Chloe he loves her during the baptism ritual. Charity had the potential to ruin everything by telling Chloe precisely what happened when Mackenzie visited her, but she ultimately made the decision not to do so.

In forthcoming episodes, Mack will be acutely conscious of the fact that he put everything on the line by sleeping with Charity and will be thankful that he seems to have come out of it uninjured.

However, has he? We know there will be at least one more major twist in this narrative even as Charity attempts to move on by dating the first guy to enter the Woolpack (his name is Liam and yes, he is afraid).

The Charity/Mack/Chloe love triangle will be one of the major plotlines during what has come to be known as Super Soap Week in October, according to show creator Jane Hudson.

If there is ever a plot to blow up around that time, Charity will be involved in a love triangle, she said. “I would keep an eye on this space for a few more months.”

Additionally, it seems like Mackenzie would be wise to guard his back. No one can stand up to Charity Dingle’s wrath.
