Coronation Street spoilers: Ken Barlow is rocked by a big family bombshell that has big consequences

All this drama! (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street mainstay Ken Barlow (William Roache) has no intention of retiring to a calm, serene life anytime soon, not with his family around to complicate things with their constant crises and upheavals.

It was bad enough that Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) daughter was having home troubles after her recent affair with football great Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn). In addition to breaking Steve (Simon Gregson)’s heart, Tracy also crushed Amy (Elle Mulvaney) by revealing that her parents were divorcing (again).

However, when it becomes apparent in later episodes just how far he was willing to go in order to get Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) out of Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) life, it’s Ken’s grandson Adam (Sam Robertson) who causes him the most difficulty.

Adam had committed to assisting Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) in ensuring Damon permanently left Weatherfield. Naturally, Harvey is Damon’s brother and is incarcerated at the moment for killing Natasha Blakeman.

Adam had to assist Harvey in appealing his sentence as a condition of Harvey’s assistance, but Adam will eventually come to the realization that it would be unwise to have any confidence at all in Harvey Gaskell.

He chooses to remove Harvey’s appeal document and labels the USB holding the CCTV footage as “The murder of Natasha Blakeman” before placing it in a jiffy bag.

Harvey becomes enraged and tells Adam to guard his back as soon as he learns that the cops have the CCTV footage.

Adam visits Sarah to make a final plea for her to reconsider their marriage. He claims he doesn’t want a divorce and that he still loves her.

Unable to handle this, Sarah becomes agitated and leaves the apartment. As Bethany (Lucy Fallon) pursues her, a car speeds in their direction.

Following this terrible event, Daniel (Rob Mallard) is enraged with Adam for assisting Harvey and endangering Sarah and Bethany’s lives.

Daniel, however, is not as upset as Ken, who is appalled to consider the possible outcomes after learning of Adam’s activities and is stunned.
