In Coronation Street, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) eventually uncovered one of Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) several misdeeds by unraveling the mystery around Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) enigmatic equity release letter.

Sarah decided to investigate the letter even though Audrey and Gail (Helen Worth) were certain it was a hoax as a result of talks she had earlier that day.

After the Nippersnapper order was canceled and Stephen suggested they sell the brand, Sarah and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) got into a fight. It had been an interesting day for Sarah.

Tim couldn’t help but divulge his falsehoods about his connection with Gabrielle after learning that Sarah had confidence in Stephen’s judgment. He explained how he had seduced Elaine (Paula Wilcox) by claiming that he, too, had been subjected to coercive control.

Sarah realized she wanted to speak with her to explain a few things after Tim questioned why he hired her as a consultant if she had treated him so poorly.

Sarah didn’t realize that it was Stephen and not Gabrielle who had founded Seagull Ltd.

But rather than correcting her, Gabrielle merely noted that Stephen had failed to demonstrate any commitment to his family before hanging up the phone.

Sarah made the decision to learn more about the equity release after hearing all of these cautionary tales and became concerned that Stephen could really be involved.

Stephen was rumbled when she called the company.

Sarah reassured her grandmother that the letter was only a fraud and that she should disregard it so as not to anger her with Stephen’s treachery, but she was also fast to approach Stephen about it.

She made it obvious that she was acting in Audrey’s best interests, not his, and that he had to return every cent he had stolen.

She then disclosed that she would never, ever be able to trust him again since he had destroyed his bridges.

Is this the start of Stephen’s fall from grace?
