Coronation Street spoilers: Wedding drama confirmed for Billy and dying Paul

In forthcoming Coronation Street episodes, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) chats with his new acquaintance as he plans for the future as his MND worsens.

Paul made the decision to go to a meeting of a motor neurone disease support group in a recent episode of the ITV soap opera. But when he got there, he encountered a woman named Shelley, and the sight of her wheelchair devastated Paul, causing him to bolt out the door and depart.

In tonight’s (July 24) episode, Paul finds himself seated next to Shelley as he waits for his appointment at the MND clinic, and things start to become a bit easier between them.

Shelly exhorts Paul to take charge, stating that if there is anything he wants to accomplish, he ought to do it right now. Paul is struck by her upbeat attitude.

Paul explains to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) that Shelley has made it easier for him to see things clearly, and that he has a crucial question for him.

Billy informs Summer (Harriet Bibby) that he expects a marriage proposal, but it seems the vicar has the wrong end of the stick since Paul later snatches himself and tells Billy that he’d want Billy to assist him in taking his own life when the time comes.

How will Billy respond, though?

And did Paul even have a proposition in mind?

Daniel informed us that Billy feels a lot of strain since, as an Archdeacon, he is accustomed to performing the pastoral care job, but this is different because it’s his partner.

He is thus attempting to adapt his typical style of handling situations to this one, but he is unable to do so due of his love for Paul. There is a lot of pressure on him to show up. He needs to make an effort to be there for himself as well, which is one of the reasons he urges Paul to attend these MND sessions.

He has a parishioner who has MND, so he is familiar with the ailment and is aware of what may happen to Paul. But he believes that if Paul can connect with other MND sufferers, it will relieve some of Billy’s strain.
