Jennie McAlpine, a star of Coronation Street, deserves congratulations on the birth of her third child.
In scenes that were shown in May, the actress who portrays Fiz Stape departed the ITV serial to take maternity leave after learning she was expecting.
In a new interview on Monday (August 28), the 39-year-old has finally announced the birth of her child, saying she really gave birth in April but chose to keep it a secret for a little bit longer.
When her little bundle of joy was born, she told OK! Magazine, “I’m so aware of how precious this time is and just how quickly it goes.” Chaos reigns, however. It was already chaotic, but now it’s much worse!
Jennie confessed to the magazine that picking a name was a “big conversation” she and her husband of six years, Chris Farr, had before settling on Doris.
Doris is a family name, and she said, “I love that it matches with Albert and Hilda.” They’re all quite ‘Corrie’ too, I think.
Doris Speed was the name of the actress who portrayed the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, so there must be something in my DNA that causes these baby names to keep occurring!
In Jennie’s absence, Corrie temporarily wrote Fiz’s character off the show and sent her to Norfolk.
Fiz accepted Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) offer to work as an Underworld manager after being presented with the chance.
The position required relocating away from her family, even though it offered a salary that was twice what Fiz was previously making.
Fiz left the cobbles in May as a result of her husband Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) prompt encouragement for her to accept the post.
