Coronation Street’s Kylie Platt icon Paula Lane assures fans she’s ‘alive and well’

Seven years have passed since Kylie Platt perished on Coronation Street’s cobblestones, but actress Paula Lane has reassured viewers that she is still “alive and well.”

The show honoured Kylie, a beloved figure who was fatally wounded by a stabbing in front of a kebab restaurant in 2016, on the day of her passing.

In some of Corrie’s most heartbreaking moments ever, she passed away in David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) arms after being attacked by Clayton.

Viewers have recently seen David and Shona (Julia Goulding) organise a trip to the cemetery to bury flowers in Kylie’s memory.

Coronation Street shared a video of Kylie’s final moments on social media to remind fans of the tragic day when her time on the street ended. Actress Paula Lane responded to the post.

She said in the tweet that her daughter, who is now seven years old, was significantly pregnant while the death scenes for Kylie were being filmed.

Fans immediately responded, expressing shock at how long ago the scenes had broadcast.

Others praised Paula and her co-star Jack P Shepherd for their performances in the heartbreaking sequences, while others questioned how the cast and crew managed to keep Paula’s pregnancy a secret for such a long time.

Many viewers voiced their dismay at Kylie’s inability to return to Coronation Street and how much they missed her.

Paula herself has already expressed her ‘heartbreak’ at the decision to kill off the character and said she ‘didn’t see it coming.

She said on the Soap From The Box podcast in 2021, “I guess it’s just the way the cookie crumbles.”

Paula has had a very successful career since leaving Coronation Street and has been in a number of theatre shows.

She just wrapped up as Phoebe Throssel in the UK tour of J.M. Barrie’s Quality Street. She also appeared as Lauren in the UK run of Kinky Boots the Musical.
