After having his ex-wife Jo Cotton (Vicki Michelle) blackmail him out of £50,000 in earlier EastEnders scenes, Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) is currently in dire financial straits.

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) gave Jo all of her life savings and took out a loan, which she now has to repay, in order to pay Jo off.

Rocky agreed to contribute, so when Kathy queries why his portion of the money hasn’t yet shown up in her account, he is put in an embarrassing situation.

Rocky lies to her when he says that Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) hasn’t paid him, then he goes to the bookies to try to get his hands on the money.

His friend Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), who also resolves to become engaged, soon joins him. He is absolutely oblivious of how much is at risk for poor Rocky, though.

Harvey soon realizes that Rocky is spending more time at the bookies than is probably healthy when he sees him returning the following day.

Rocky tells him that it’s only a little joke, but the car salesman quickly places a sizeable wager in the hopes of being fortunate.

When things go well for Rocky, you would assume that he would immediately take his gains to Kathy to settle his obligation. Rocky’s mentality unfortunately doesn’t operate that way, so he decides to ride his luck instead.

Despite being envious of Rocky’s success, Harvey continues to be worried and confronts his friend. Harvey is skeptic about Rocky’s promise that he won’t return to the bookmakers.

Rocky is soon enticed to return to the perilous path of gambling when boxing promoter Dorian urges him to wager on the big Pie, Pint and Punch Up night.

Will Rocky’s reckless gambling cause him to lose everything? Or given that Brian Conley is expected to quit EastEnders, might Rocky wind up making off with a fortune and abandoning Kathy in a desperate situation?
