Emmerdale actor lands huge Hollywood role just two years after soap exit

n his new role opposite legendary Idris Elba and wrestling hero turned actor John Cena, Emmerdale actor Mark Hampton has left the Dales far behind. As Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) attorney, Mark played a crucial role in the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

As part of the show’s dramatic plots for the historic event, Cain was taken into custody for the murder of Michael Wildman’s character, Al Chapman. Mark was invited to appear on the show to defend him. But as it turned out, Cain’s 10-year-old son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was the real offender, and once he came clean, Cain was spared.

From his Cambridge home, Mark exclusively told Express.co.uk, “It was a very dramatic storyline.” “He wasn’t letting anything slide at the time I got to play his lawyer, his solicitor. As things turned out, it was obviously not him. The child was the one who pulled the trigger. Thus, he was acting morally and safeguarding the child.

As an actor, it was amusing for me because, when I read the first few episodes I was in, I had the impression that everything was going to be okay and that the case would go to court. There will be a ton of awesome courtroom drama and other stuff. Then the big surprise occurred, and everyone thought, “Oh, that’s a shame.” Thus, my time in Emmerdale was somewhat shortened,” he chuckles.

He still had a great experience on the show even after the plot twist that caused his character to leave the show earlier than planned. “It was a truly wonderful encounter. It’s enjoyable because, when you go shoot up there, all the sets are in this sort of large warehouse. I had a great time doing it. Additionally, you can go visit all these sets and other stuff by going on the massive Emmerdale tour. Before you really go into your tiny portion, it’s really fascinating to see all the other bits of the Emmerdale world,” he exclaimed.

“I have to say, Jeff, oddly, was absolutely [lovely] – I think it’s often the case that people who play villains are the opposite in real life,” he says of his co-star Jeff Hordley, who he also praises greatly.

“They are the most beautiful, kindest, most humble people I have ever met. And while I was working with him on the set, he was just a pleasure to be around. It was a pleasure working with him.

Mark’s most recent appearance is in the upcoming action movie Heads of State, a big-budget production from Amazon Studios starring John Cena and Idris Elba, which couldn’t be much more unlike from Emmerdale.

“He’s outstanding. “John Cena was fantastic,” he remarks about the celebrity. “He’s such a shining star; you can’t overlook the fact that wrestling is a performance with true talent…He is truly an entertainer and a delightful man who was a pleasure to collaborate with. Extremely large man who kind of had to be pushed into the Presidential limousine as it slid into the large vehicle.

“He was portraying the US president. They had this kind of buddy movie, with Idris Elba as the Prime Minister. However, it’s a sort of wrong pair situation where they have to learn how to cooperate and are at each other’s throats for a while. Thus, it’s an amazing movie, at least in my opinion.

describing his involvement in it Playing a member of the President’s security detail, Mark gave this explanation: “I was an actor for more than 20 years before taking a hiatus to raise my children. Now that my children are a little older, I’ve been fortunate enough to get back into acting. I’ve been doing independent films, TV shows, commercials, and a variety of other things, in addition to just kind of doing acting jobs, which has been incredibly wonderful.

“And that involves switching between various manufacturing scales on a sort of daily basis. Thus, you will work on Emmerdale one day, an independent movie with a small crew the next, and I might be working on Heads of State, where I ride in the back of a presidential limousine with one of the biggest stars in the world, John Cena.”

In addition to collaborating with A-list celebrities, Mark produces his own films. He recently completed a new production titled Unlicensed, which will be released later this year. Heads of State is anticipated to be released later this year, while Amazon has not yet provided a release date.
