The Emmerdale scene where a devastated Lydia (Karen Blick) confesses her rape experience to her insecure but steadfastly loving husband Sam (James Hooton) is finally here.
In addition to dealing with the pain of being raped by Craig (Ben Addis), Lydia has thus far suffered alone with his insults, manipulation, and stalking. Fortunately, things are about to get better for the matriarch of the Dingle family as she feels prepared to come clean and the family discovers the unpleasant truth about Craig.
Since the event, Craig has purposefully made her life miserable, especially when she boldly confronted him and called him a rapist.
Since then, he has changed the story to fit his needs, giving Samson the impression that he and Lydia had a love encounter that he told Mandy about.
Sam is so frustrated with not understanding what’s going on or why his wife bristles every time he touches her that he doesn’t know what to do with himself. Lydia’s marriage has also been struggling, with Lydia hardly able to look at Sam.
With the exception of Kim (Claire King), who was able to convince Lydia to tell the truth, Lydia had been completely alone.
Lydia breaks down and runs away to “her mother’s.” This upsets Sam, so Kim discreetly quizzes him to determine if he is aware of the whole truth. However, when Sam tries to contact Lydia, they both get anxious when they discover she never showed up to her mother’s. Sam turns on Kim when he is at his wits’ end and demands to know what she knows.
When Mandy (Lisa Riley) informs Sam that she believes Lydia is having an affair, she adds fuel to the fire.
Lydia is at the B&B listening to Sam’s voice message as this is all going on. She finds his remarks to be meaningful and thinks it’s time to face the music and go home.
When it is suggested that she has been having an affair, she returns to the family in a confused state. After taking a big breath, Lydia shocks the family by telling them the entire terrible truth.
She informs them. Craig is a cold-blooded rapist, not the nice, giving guy people know. Will her family support her now that they are aware?
