Two Coronation Street characters exit the Street as Tyrone wants Evelyn out of his life

This week on Coronation Street, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) was in complete disbelief when he discovered that his mother Cassie (Claire Sweeney) was still alive.

He severed his relationships with Cassie and Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), reeling from the realization.

In tonight’s episode (August 18), he walked over to ask his mother about her disappearance all those years ago, but his curiosity eventually got the better of him.

In tearjerking moments, Cassie explained that she had traveled to South Africa with a partner after giving birth who turned out to be quite controlling and kept her from getting in touch with her family in the UK.

She went on to say that she had turned into a “total mess,” but that Evelyn was mostly to blame.

She described how she began drinking at the age of 12 and began doing drugs at the age of 15. She put this down to being a shy kid who grew up with argumentative parents.

Cassie went. When she told Tyrone that Evelyn had blamed her for her father’s brain hemorrhage, stating it was because of the stress she had given him, Tyrone was astonished.

Cassie stated that Evelyn had lied to Tyrone about not wanting him when he was having trouble understanding why she would have left him.

When Evelyn arrived and was given the shocking news that Cassie would be moving in with Tyrone so they could get to know one other better, it was quickly apparent that she had won the round.

The thought of Cassie living with Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor) frightened Evelyn, but Tyrone reassured her that they were going to Norwich to see Cassie’s mother Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).

She wasn’t thrilled about it, but she was glad she could watch them both under one roof.

Tyrone, who maintained that Evelyn wasn’t welcome, had other ideas.

Tyrone was certain that he would figure it out for himself despite Evelyn’s insistence that he was making a terrible mistake.

Cassie moved in at Tyrone’s later after Hope and Ruby had been sent on their way to Norwich, while Evelyn confided in Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

Ever the voice of reason, Roy noted that he recognized Tyrone’s perspective but also that Evelyn had only lied to him in order to protect him.

Evelyn said that she believed Cassie was still doing drugs and would use Tyrone’s generosity.

Evelyn’s fears seemed to be founded when Cassie reached inside her bag while attempting to protect the contents from Tyrone.

A package of prescription medications was there. Are these prescription drugs for her, or is Evelyn correct?
