Watch the Coronation Street moment Carla and Roy catch on to Stephen’s spiking

Viewers of Coronation Street are aware that Alison King’s character Carla Barlow has a history of mental health problems, which sadistic assassin Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) exploited earlier this year for his own purpose.

His objective was to completely take over Underworld by persuading the staff and business partners that Carla wasn’t qualified for the position.

To do this, he started injecting her with LSD, which caused symptoms identical to the psychosis she experienced in 2019.

Though he was successful in convincing Carla that she was unwell, and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) even went so far as to pay for her to return to the hospital, his attempts to seize control of the factory have so far been ineffective because Carla has taken back the helm ever since she started feeling better.

Until far, Stephen has been able to get away with drugging Carla with no repercussions, but that may all change in forthcoming episodes as Carla tells Roy about her suspicions.

After speaking with her client Lou, Carla discovers that the symptoms she had been through during her most recent “psychotic episode” are the same as those of an LSD trip.

Carla confides in her close friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson), as shown in the teaser clip up above, that she may not have been spiked at all, but rather LSD-drugged.

If you’re like us, you’ll be yelling at the television that she is correct, but will Roy concur?

Will Carla see that Stephen was responsible before it is too late?

These scenes will appear on Coronation Street on Wednesday, August 30 at 8 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX.
