Legendary cast member Helen Worth, well known to fans as Gail Rodwell, has allegedly signed a new deal that would see her make more appearances annually on Coronation Street.

Next month marks Helen’s (73), 50th anniversary on the ITV serial opera. Initially appearing on the programme as a brash adolescent named Gail Potter, she soon established herself as one of its most recognisable figures and went on to marry five of the street’s men.

We soon got to know her mother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), who had two kids with Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten), as the famous Elsie Tanner’s (Pat Phoenix) lodger.

She had a son named David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) from her second marriage to Sean Wilson’s much younger partner, Martin Platt.

She has experienced being pushed into a canal, managing her daughter Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) adolescent pregnancy, and being involved in the murder of her fourth husband Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale), who passed away while pretending to be dead.

Gail was last seen on television in her 4,579th episode in March, but there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing a lot more of her soon.

With her rumoured £250,000 annual salary, Helen may surpass 92-year-old William Roache, the world’s longest-serving actor from a television soap opera, in his capacity as Ken Barlow.

In all, William has starred in 4,843 episodes since the show’s 1960 debut.

Despite the fact that The Sun was informed by a source that some of the longest-serving TV performers are on Coronation Street, Bill’s record was always seen as invincible.

Helen is at touching distance because of her arrangement. Her participation in so many major plots accounts for her high appearance rate.

The biggest plot point in her most recent tale was the discovery that her brother Stephen (Todd Boyce) was a serial murderer.

Our Gail hasn’t had an easy life!
