Coronation Street star Dame Maureen Lipman wins Inside Soap Award

“I’m very grateful.”

Dame Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn Plummer in Coronation Street, won the Inside Soap Awards’ Best Comic Performance category this year.

Her win, which is her third in as many years, was revealed ahead of Monday’s (September 25) celebration. She won a difficult category that included Hollyoaks actress Chelsee Healey, Emmerdale’s Samantha Giles, and EastEnders actor Shane Richie.

In a response to Inside Soap readers, Lipman said, “I’ve had some great stuff to act this year on Coronation Street, some meaty stuff, and I’m very grateful that you think I’m good enough to win this prestigious award in a show I’m very proud of – so thank you.”
