The future of Danny Dyer’s EastEnders character has been revealed. Despite fans’ suspicions to the contrary, he acknowledged Mick Carter’s death, however he could yet make a cameo in the soap opera.
During the Christmas plotline, the actor, who left the BBC One serial opera in 2022 following a nine-year run, saw his character vanish at sea.
Dyer responded to the incessant inquiries about his possible comeback to Heat magazine by saying, “Everyone is asking when I’m going back to EastEnders, which is very interesting to me.” Then, he shockingly said, “But he’s dead!”
However, Dyer hinted that Mick Carter’s appearances on the programme could not finish here. He made a suggestion about potential appearances as the 40th anniversary of the soap opera drew near in February, adding, “Look, I take it as a compliment that people want me to go back.” Who knows? I may return for a dream scene if there’s no resolution there. Mick could not have simply shown up covered in seaweed, in my opinion.
The actress speculated that Mick would appear in a dream or hallucination that his on-screen spouse Linda Carter—played by Kellie Bright—experiences.
“I think if they did it right, with the 40th anniversary coming up, if they came up with an idea of maybe Linda drunk or hallucinating, then I would come back and do some scenes with her,” he said.

Dyer spoke warmly of his time spent with his co-star on EastEnders, acknowledging that he misses their collaboration and that he wouldn’t mind going back for a special assignment.
He responded by saying: “You know, because I do miss Kellie, and I think maybe that would stop people asking me when I’m going back!” .
In addition to participating in Celebrity Gogglebox and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer after bidding farewell to Albert Square, Dyer has landed a role in the British-Australian thriller Heat and will be hosting the upcoming game show Scared of the Dark.
