In EastEnders, Eve Unwin’s (Heather Peace) whole world came crashing down when Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) decided to permanently terminate their relationship.

On the day Suki had her marriage to spouse Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) sanctified, their covert romance was made public.

Since then, they have been meeting in secret and utilising travels to Leeds for work as an excuse to spend time together.

However, it suddenly became apparent that none of them, especially Eve, enjoyed hiding in the shadows.

Things became especially strained when Nish learned that just one room had been reserved for their most recent Leeds “business” trip since he had previously done time in jail for killing someone he believed to be a danger to his relationship with Suki.

Even though they were able to hide their error, Eve admitted to Suki that she was becoming tired of Nish’s hold over her and had made the decision to take action to permanently remove him from the picture.

Suki was shocked to find her son Vinny (Shiv Jalota) might also wind up being held accountable for the money laundering Nish had been engaged in when she explained her intention to turn informant on her employer.

Eve abandoned her attempt to overthrow Nish (Image credit: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron).

Eve was nevertheless determined to carry out her plan in spite of this.

Eve broke into the Panesars’ home to obtain further evidence when they were out at Walford East for Nish’s birthday celebration.

She was taken aback, however, when Vinny and Suki came early, Vinny having been displeased with Nish’s evident favouritism of Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), the family’s son.

Eve overheard Suki discussing how much Vinny meant to her and how it would kill her to be without him as she crouched behind a doorway.

Following the heart-to-heart, Eve came out of hiding and said that, despite her desperation for their relationship, carrying out the plan at Vinny’s cost would only make Suki hate her, and the danger wasn’t worth it.

Instead, she informed Suki that she could remove the documents, but doing so would terminate their relationship permanently since Eve couldn’t watch as Nish steadily ruined the woman she loved.

Tearful Eve was absolutely upset when Suki stole the papers and left her in the kitchen by herself.

Is Sukeve’s career officially over, or will they eventually recognise they can’t live without one another?

On Tuesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, EastEnders will resume.
