While bride Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) is eagerly anticipating her wedding in EastEnders, groom Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) surprises her on the big day.
Rocky and Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), who are both distraught about what happened on the stag night, are getting ready for the big day while Kathy is eagerly anticipating it.
Even though Kathy had told Bobby to keep an eye on things while the men engaged in mischief, things quickly became out of control when they started playing poker with Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).
Rocky didn’t take long to put his career in jeopardy when he caved in to Nish’s prodding and big stakes.
He confides in Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) after experiencing remorse on his wedding day and receiving her advice to be honest.
Kathy is devastated as Rocky finally lets everything out.
Rocky had previously kept from Kathy the fact that he was still married, so this wasn’t the first time he had let her down.
Actor Brian Conley thinks they can overcome this despite it.
“We know how Rocky is.” He did first pose as Sonia’s father, but Dotty strongly influenced him. He is able to weave yarn.
He gets into situations as Laurel and Hardy did, therefore that’s how he is. Why didn’t you state the truth at the outset? you yell at the television. Why did you suddenly fall into this huge rabbit hole of it all, finding yourself in this precarious position? Therefore, he has those problems.
He simply gets himself into a condition, which is thrilling for both the character and for me personally.
Similar to other people, actress Gillian Taylforth said that Kathy ‘hopes he is’ her happily ever after.
He’s a sweet man who makes her laugh, and to go along with that, he’s a little gorgeous! He makes her laugh, is a lot of fun to be around, and is considerate. He certainly lie a lot, but I don’t believe he even lies on purpose.
I believe he is only trying to keep things calm and says to himself, “Well, I won’t tell her this because it might upset her.” He has a genuinely decent heart overall and doesn’t mean to hurt her. He simply tries to get it out of the way and keep everything pleasant and joyful for her, which always results in the worst possible outcomes!
The foolish idiot knows he will be exposed and will then have to attempt to avoid that situation once more. So far, all he seems to do is irritate her constantly.
So, after they are married, I believe she is expecting that this will be the end of it. However, given that this is Rocky, everything is possible!
Kathy confides in her friend Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) after learning exactly what Rocky has done, admitting she is unsure whether or not to proceed with the wedding.
Fortunately for Rocky, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) springs a surprise on her and persuades Kathy to reconsider.
Jo Cotton (Vicki Michelle) soon makes a surprise reappearance when she appears at the register office, but the drama doesn’t finish there.
