In a recent EastEnders episode, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) shocked everyone by making a profound statement when Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) asked her for guidance on a problem he was facing.

After finding out that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had strayed on his future bride Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) before their wedding, Alfie found himself in a difficult situation.

After a few too many glasses, Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) unintentionally revealed details of Phil’s night with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit), which left Alfie stunned.

He struggled with his conscience on tonight’s (September 20) episode, debating whether or not to tell Kat the news.

He used the chance to approach his closest friend Linda for guidance when he bumped into her.

In a noncommittal manner, he inquired as to what she would do if she knew something that would lead to problems now but would eventually save a great deal of suffering afterwards.

Before uttering the most famous sentence of the year, Linda reflected on her own experience of losing the love of her life, Mick, to the diabolical Janine Butcher. She said that she regretted acting like a grownup and ‘staying silent’ in order to avoid ‘upsetting the applecart’.

“I wish I had brought a flamethrower to the apple cart that day the b*tch moved in,” the speaker said.

Killer queen.

Linda’s feelings are justified given that Janine and Mick’s marriage collapsed when her whole life fell apart and that Mick vanished at sea on Christmas Day.

Rearing Linda’s caution in his ears, Alfie went to tell Kat the truth.

But shortly after seeing her happiness, he understood he couldn’t be the one to shatter her heart, so he chose to remain silent and face Phil directly.

Will Alfie end up hating his silence as Linda did, or will everything turn out well in the end?
