It has been shown that Martin Fowler (James Bye), who has been suspicious of Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis) over his intentions toward Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) in EastEnders, may have a valid concern.

The market stall owner became doubtful of Theo’s motives after he volunteered to instruct Lily for free and even went so far as to decline payment from Martin.

He confronted Lily about her relationship with Theo after getting the uneasy sense that something wasn’t quite right. He was appalled to find that he had given her a pair of trainers.

Theo was the one positive force in Lily’s life, and it would be cruel for Martin to ruin it, Stacey (Lacey Turner), who had handled the situation, told the outraged Martin.

Martin continued to be worried, and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Lily’s aunt, echoed his concerns.

She cautioned Martin to keep Lily away from Theo if he had any reservations at all because she had experienced abuse at the hands of an older guy when she was a teenager.

He stated that it wasn’t that simple, but when Whitney said that he should look for evidence that something wasn’t right, he got an idea.

He went to Theo’s old school in Essex to do this and the receptionist cautioned him to stay away from the weird instructor.

The Slater family and Theo were having dinner together when Martin unexpectedly showed up, determined to reveal Theo for the fraud he thought she truly was.

Martin discussed his visit to Theo’s former school and disclosed that Theo had quit after learning that an investigation into his ‘inappropriate relationship’ had been launched.

Unfortunately for Martin, Theo was prepared with an explanation and disclosed that he had actually been seeing a teacher. However, their breakup had been nasty, and she had started making “baseless accusations” that he would find it challenging to refute.

He defended himself by saying that if he had genuinely been involved in an inappropriate relationship, he wouldn’t still be able to teach and that he had made the decision to quit to better his mental health rather than face her accusations.

Stacey, who demanded that Martin apologize or go, was persuaded by his defense.

Martin rushed away since he was still unpersuaded, leaving Theo with Stacey and Lily by himself.
