Emmerdale spoilers: Aaron Dingle makes a brave decision about his health amid cancer fight

It could change everything (Picture: ITV)

When Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) learns that her illness was caused by a defective BRCA2 gene, it might potentially change the lives of a lot of people in future Emmerdale episodes.

This implies that there’s a good probability that her son Aaron (Danny Miller), brothers Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb (William Ash), and any offspring they may have, also have the gene.

Producer Kate Brooks noted that the premise for this narrative included this familial link as a key component.

We wanted to highlight the effect on not just Chas but also her immediate family because of her strong character and the fact that her family has a history of breast cancer. Chas is, after all, the cornerstone of the Dingles.

The males must decide whether to be tested in order to determine for sure whether they have the defective gene.

When Aaron appears to want to avoid discussing the topic, Chas becomes very concerned and fears that he won’t show up for the exam. Aaron, for his part, finds it difficult to comply with Chas’s demand that he take a test.

Afterwards, Vinny (Bradley Johnson) informs Chas that Aaron has said he doesn’t intend to take the exam, which upsets Chas.

Because Aaron is afraid to face the prospect that he could have the gene, she fears that he may be endangering his life.

Chas still has to take care of her own condition in the meanwhile, and she has an appointment to talk about her possibilities for therapy.

Chas, who is anxiously awaiting her call, is very relieved when Aaron arrives, since he has been informed by Lydia (Karen Blick) that Chas left for her appointment.

Chas informs the doctor that she has chosen to get a double mastectomy, with Aaron’s approval. She sobs as she acknowledges that she is utterly afraid.

Aaron takes the courageous step of asking for a referral for the gene test, maybe using his mother’s strength as inspiration, as he gets ready to face whatever the outcome may be.
