On Emmerdale yesterday, mom Chas (Lucy Pargeter) broke some news that would change Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) life.
Following her son Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb’s (William Ash) encounter, Chas informed them that her cancer was caused by a defective gene she acquired from Faith (Sally Dexter).
She clarified that since it originated with Faith, there’s a potential that Cain and Caleb will also have it.
Additionally, Aaron’s chances of getting it are increased because it is inherited by offspring.

Chas explained to the three that having a positive BRCA1 gene test raises a person’s risk of developing some cancers.
For example, if Cain were to take the test and obtain a positive result, he would have to deal with the difficult news that his children would also inherit the gene in addition to the possibility of perhaps developing cancer.
Although Aaron didn’t seem to be giving the test much thought tonight, Cain and Caleb both understand how important it is to take it.
After speaking with Vinny (Bradley Johnson) at the bar, Aaron thought there was no sense in taking the test because he is childless.
Vinny suggested that Aaron could feel better about taking the test, but he decided to keep Aaron in the dark, believing that ignorance is not bliss.
Vinny was ordered to remain silent by Aaron, but what will happen to Chas if she finds out that he is not going to be tested?
