As the illness has worsened over the last several weeks on Coronation Street, so have his symptoms.

He will now experience even more devastating moments as he suffers yet another setback.

It was discovered that Paul may soon find it difficult to use the stairlift, so an Eyegaze specialist shows him how to utilise his new equipment at the flower shop apartment.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), meantime, makes her way back to the streets from the US, bringing Felix with her.

Her new love, Billy (Daniel Brocklebank), is waiting for them at the Rovers for a drink, and she wants to introduce him.

But as they prepare to leave the apartment, Paul has a terrifying tumble and falls down the stairs.

Todd also shows up at that same time, just as Summer arrives with her new boyfriend.

When Summer discusses her broken family, how will the meeting proceed?

He is not alone in his troubles; in later scenes, Ken Barlow (William Roache) will also lose his freedom.

After being discovered at the foot of the stairs at home, Ken will get visits from Daniel (Rob Mallard) and Steve McDonald in the hospital.

When the lifelong homeless man learns he will need 24-hour care while he heals, he will be appalled.

Steve gives Ken the reassurance that his family will work together to keep him secure in his own house.

Ken can’t resist forcing one of his trademark sardonic grins at this thought.
