The Simon Barlow actor is bowing out of the ITV soap this summer
The actor, who first appeared on the cobbles as Simon Barlow in 2008, was only seven years old. Alex Bain has grown up on Coronation Street. However, the 22-year-old is leaving the ITV soap opera this summer following 15 years of progressively more dramatic plots.
After his mother Lucy passed away from breast cancer, Simon found himself in Weatherfield. He was then taken care of by his father Peter, who was portrayed by the recently fired actor Chris Gascoyne. When Peter was having trouble adjusting to parenthood, he resorted to drink. Simon’s maternal grandpa George attempted to get custody, but when their marriage broke down, primary custody went to Peter’s wife Leanne.
The child’s troubles increased when his father was brutally beating Leanne after being wrongfully convicted of murder and put to jail. Viewers have seen Simon join a bad crowd, start distributing drugs, and most recently, use drugs, which resulted in his wrecking a vehicle while taking his stepbrother Sam to a chess tournament. Although Simon’s departure plot is being kept under wraps, Alex’s last scenes are anticipated to run throughout the summer.
According to sources, Alex wanted to “take on other opportunities” after leaving the programme. In June 2020, he established Mjöllnir Productions Ltd., naming himself as the director of the business.The company is registered with Companies House in the category of “television programming and broadcasting activities.”..
According to data obtained by The Mirror, the firm employs no one, and its accounts for the year ending June 30, 2023, show only £100—the same amount as in 2022. Although there aren’t any postings on the business venture’s Instagram profile yet, the bio states, “We are coming, be prepared.”
In December 2018, Lydia Rose was born, and Alex is also her father. Their daughter, born soon after he took his GCSEs, was born to his ex-partner, Levi Selby, when he was seventeen. Speaking on being a father at the time, Alex said to Inside Soap, “I really do love having a child, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Don’t get me wrong, however; she exhausts me.”
A year after the birth of their daughter, Levi and Alex separated. The father of one proposed to singer Mollie Lockwood in 2022, but the marriage was called off after only six months.
