Alan Halsall of Coronation Street has given fans an insight into his less-than-glamorous rehabilitation process after surgery.

The actor, who is best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs on the hit ITV soap opera, had surgery to repair an ACL injury at the end of the previous year. The ACL is a vital ligament in the knee that runs from the thighbone to the shinbone and is essential for knee stability.

Instagram was how Alan kept his fans updated, even posting a picture of himself from his hospital bed with a thumbs up. He wrote the following in November, just before his operation: “ACL Reconstruction surgery [tick emoji].” Well, I had ACL reconstructive surgery on Friday. I’ve been informed that the procedure went quite well. I am aware that my recovery will take a significant nine to twelve months, but I have faith that my family and friends will help me get there.”

Alan is back at it now, some months after his recovery, as shown by a recent photo he submitted of a clinic sign with the message, “Back at it today!! First class back… please be kind to @scholarstherapies,” the Manchester Evening News writes.

Additionally, he uploaded a video of himself working hard during a physical therapy session. He joked, saying, “Be gentle, I said…” and then, “Rehab is not glamourous!!” along with an emoticon of himself sobbing and smiling.

After a protracted romance with his former co-star Tisha Merry, Alan Halsall, well known for his role on Coronation Street, has made references to being single once again. Tisha, who portrayed Steph Britton in the renowned serial opera from 2013 to 2018, is where the two first connected.

Shortly after her departure from the programme, they began dating. Alan hinted at his single status and that he would be looking into dating apps in a funny Instagram post he posted last month.

The 41-year-old actor shared a photo of a playful dog trying to climb on him along with the comment, which read, “Looks like we’re not the greatest of friends. I’ve got the most activity in a long time, ffs fml.”

He then posted a second image of himself with the puppy, teasing that it may be his “new Tinder profile picture” and hinting at a possible comeback to the dating scene.

Alan, who has spent two decades playing the Weatherfield mechanic on Corrie, does have a significant young woman in his life: his daughter Sianna-Rae, whom he shares with his ex-wife and former Hollyoaks and Corrie actress Lucy-Jo Hudson. This is despite his recent love troubles.

Alan posted a snapshot of himself and Sianna-Rae during one of their recent travels on Instagram earlier this month. The pair was seen standing on rocks, staring out to sea, while sporting enormous jackets.

“Whenever you need me, this is where I’ll be…. Right by your side!!” Alan said in the caption of the image, reassuring his admirers.
