ITV Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle family tree – how is he related to the other Dingles?

Actor Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, reveals his character’s convoluted family genealogy on Express.co.uk in honour of his birthday.

Upon his arrival in Emmerdale in March 2000 to attend his late cousin Butch’s (Paul Loughran) funeral, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) made a strong impression on the community. He instantly became a part of the Dingle family’s three decades on the programme, being a member of the enormous clan.

Cain is the son of Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), who passed away from cancer last year, and Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell), a former Emmerdale resident. Even though he sometimes has a tumultuous connection with his relatives, viewers frequently become confused by his family tree.

Dingles abound and are frequently at the core of expansive narratives. They frequently have a large number of long-lost relatives. On Christmas Day 2022, Cain received a long-lost brother in the form of Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) in the Dales; however, as he is a Tate by virtue of his mother’s liaison with Frank Tate, he is not truly a Tate.

Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb), Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) and Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) have five children together, while Cain (Bobby Dunsmuir) has one child with Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb), his current partner. His kid is likewise named Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

Presently making appearances on the show are Charity (Emma Atkins), Mandy (Lisa Reilly), Marlon (Mark Charnock), and recently engaged Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper). It is simple to forget where each of them fits into the family when there are so many of them. Express.co.uk has deconstructed the Dingle family tree to show the relationships between the various members and Cain.

Emma Atkins portrays Charity Dingle, who is the offspring of Obadiah (Paul Kopley) and Kathleen Dingle. She had an incestuous relationship with Cain when they were teenagers, and now she is his cousin and Debbie’s mother.

In 2000, the year Cain debuted, Charity made her debut on Emmerdale. Her children are Ryan Stocks (James Moore), Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), and Moses Dingle (Arthur Cockroft), in addition to Debbie.

She is wed to Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb), Moira’s brother and Cain’s partner. But he and Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) are parents to the same child.

Cain’s mother, Faith Dingle, is the mother of Chas (Lucy Pargeter), who is half-sister to Cain.

Her father, Shadrack Dingle, is the uncle of Cain, which oddly also makes her his cousin.

Her only kid, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), is Cain’s nephew. In 2018, she went through a horrific plotline in which her second child, Grace, with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), passed away.

Following the revelation of her romance with the late Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), Chas and Paddy called it quits. After a confrontation in a secluded barn, Cain’s 10-year-old son Kyle shot and killed Al.

Sam Dingle

Because they have the same father, Zak, Sam is Cain’s half-brother. He was born prior to Zak and Lisa’s marriage, and his mother is Nellie Lynch (Maggie Tagney).

He has a son named Samson Dingle (Sam Hall), and his half-sibling is Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper), who is the daughter of Zak and Lisa.

He is wed to Karen Blick’s character Lydia Dingle, who has been the focus of a terrifying narrative this year following her rape at the hands of Craig Reed (Ben Addis).

After finding out about the attack, Sam gave Craig a severe beating and left him for dead, leaving him to be killed by Kim Tate’s (Claire King) horse.

Many decades ago, while Lydia was still an adolescent, she gave birth to Craig’s child, but regrettably, the child passed away.

Marlon Dingle

The first cousin of Cain is Marlon Dingle. He moved to the Dales in 1996, four years ahead of Cain.

He has four marriages under his belt. To Donna Windsor from 2006 to 2009, and subsequently to Tricia Stokes from 2003 to 2004.

From 2014 to 2015, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) served as the third Mrs. Dingle. He spent 2019 and 2020 as Jessie Grant’s husband.

Since 2022, he has been wed to Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry). Leo Goskirk is his son, and April Windsor is his daughter.

Belle Dingle

Cain and Sam consider Belle to be their half-sister since she is the youngest child of Zak and Lisa Dingle.

She just tied the knot with James Chase’s character Tom King, who left Belle heartbroken several years prior and made a comeback to the soap opera last year.

But ever since the wedding, he has been acting abusively, and viewers of the show are worried about her safety.

Aaron Dingle

Aaron is Cain’s nephew because he is the son of Chas Dingle and Gordon Livesey (Gary Mavers).

Aaron was raised by his father, who gave birth to him when Chas was just 14 years old.

Nevertheless, Gordon sexually assaulted him when he misbehaved. Gordon kept raping Aaron despite getting remarried and having a daughter named Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele). Ultimately, Aaron moved in with Chas.

Aaron and Vinny were devastated to learn of Liv’s untimely death last October during Super Soap Week, as Liv was married to Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).

Mandy Dingle

Cain’s cousin is Mandy Dingle. Her mother is Vera-Lynn Dingle, and her father, Caleb, is Zak Dingle’s brother.

When her cousin Tina Dingle (Jacqueline Pirie) married Luke McAllister (Noah Huntley) in 1995, she travelled to the Dales for the first time.

Later, after her father Caleb (Mike Kelly) disowned her, she moved back in with her uncle Zak.

She briefly departed the Dales, but since 2019, she has returned as a permanent presence.
