Two former soap faves set to join Emmerdale in 2024

There’s likely to be fireworks when the new additions come to the village in the new year

In 2024, viewers of Emmerdale will soon get to meet two fascinating new characters.

The ITV soap opera will see some significant additions in the new year, as we’ve already revealed. First of all, 47-year-old Beth Cordingly, who portrayed PC Kerry Young in The Bill, will soon be seen in Emmerdale as Ruby Fox-Milligan, Caleb’s wife. As Nicky’s mother, portrayed by Lewis Cope, Ruby is described as fiery, self-assured, erratic, and an intensely loving mother.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Emmerdale cast; it’s a huge privilege, and Ruby is a dream role,” Beth said. I believe people will either love or loathe her since she is a troublemaker and a fireball, but I can’t wait to work with this amazing group.

On the other hand, a former Coronation Street favorite is going to the village and switching soap operas. You’re probably familiar with Paula Lane, 37, from her time as Kylie Platt in Corrie. From 2010 until 2016, she could be seen walking on the cobbles.

Paula will be featured as Ella Forster in Emmerdale. She will initially come to our attention when she defends Mandy Dingle at a veterinarian ball that she and her boyfriend Paddy are attending. Though Ella is far from a pushover, fate is about to smile upon her when a fortuitous meeting with Manpreet Sharma presents a chance. Ella doesn’t take long to start drawing attention in the hamlet.

Paula expressed her excitement about her new position by saying, “I’m thrilled to be joining the Emmerdale cast.” I’m excited to begin a new chapter as Ella since everyone has been so friendly. She has great goals, I’ve heard, and I can’t wait to see her get settled in the town and possibly make some friends.

Paula has made appearances in Father Brown and Doctors in the past.

“Ella is a complex and multi-layered character who comes to the village and certainly makes an impact,” producer Kate Brooks said. Is there more to this seemingly good-natured woman than first meets the eye?
