James Craven, a star of Coronation Street who portrayed Aaron Sandford on the ITV serial opera, had a completely different appearance in the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon.

James Craven, a former cast member of Coronation Street, has been sighted on House of the Dragon with a whole new appearance.

James, who is best known for playing Aaron Sandford on the ITV soap opera, was Summer Spellman’s (Harriet Bibby) lover. He departed Weatherfield last year after a sinister plot that had his buddy Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) being horrifically raped.

James appeared in the first episode of the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, which aired on Monday, June 17, more than a year after he left the cobblestones. He portrayed a member of the Stark family who became a Night’s Watch member.

When they saw him in the programme, they were shocked to realise that he didn’t look like the Corrie guy. In contrast to Aaron, his character in the HBO series has a “bowl-cut” haircut and wears completely different clothing.

Reactions to James’ new job were shared by fans on Reddit. “Looks like Aaron’s off to join the Night’s Watch,” one person said this week.

One more person said, “Nice capture. It’s good to see the younger players who left [Corrie] finding employment.”

He was identified by another spectator, who said, “I knew I recognised him from something, it was bugging me!” Another admirer said, “I noticed him but couldn’t place where I’d seen him.” In a similar vein.

In the thread, a fifth individual attested, saying, “I was SURE that was him.”

James left Corrie to participate in the Netflix comedy series Geek Girl in addition to his involvement in the HBO series. He is said to have appeared in six episodes of the series on the massive streaming service as Ollie.

However, he is not the only Corrie celebrity to appear on House of the Dragon. On the programme, Jamie Kenna, who previously played Phill Whittaker, Fiz Brown’s (Jennie McAlpine) ex-husband, is now Ser Alfred Broome.

Additional connections exist between the two programmes, such as Michael Condron, a former Corrie actor who portrayed Griff Reynolds and now stars in Game of Thrones as Bowen Marsh. He appeared on the programme in 2015 and 2016.

Among the other former soap stars that appear in House of the Dragon is Luke Tittensor, who was a cast member of Emmerdale and played Daz Eden from 2003 to 2009. In the fantasy series on HBO, the actor now portrays Ser Arryk Cargyll.

James recently spoke to the Daily Star about how “hard” the Amy abuse plot was, saying, “I think the hard part for me when we got this story was to sort of justify why he reacts in the way that he does because obviously me as James knows that it’s wrong.” However, it was difficult for the guy to kind of create an excuse for what he had done.”

“Making sure Elle was comfortable at all times was the most important thing for me,” he said. You know, we made the necessary changes right away if she had any complaints.”
